Charlotte is 7 now......

Charlotte is now a brand new fresh 7 year old, so I thought I'd do a journal entry for where she is currently in her Math.

Rod and Staff Grade 3, lesson 98.

Doing Division.....
for her 6x tables on top, and a mixture on bottom.

Then we continue to do some more in fraction form, and of course a few written questions as well.

So yep, that is where Charlotte is up to these days.

Kk is for Koala.....

While we're currently taking a Robinson Curriculum detour for the older girls, little boy continues to preschool, with much enthusiasm.

Today he did a letter { k } alphabet craft.

What Charlotte is Reading These Days

Charlotte has just turned 7.

This is the level/ability and where she is in her reading:

She is almost finished with this book, which will bring us to the end of the Grade 1 course particularly soon, and well before the end of the year - so that we'll actually have a couple of months free.  We'll probably detour a little after that before jumping to the Grade 2 materials, but I dunno, we'll see what she thinks when we get there, and what she might want to do.

My Latest Korean Find: Moorim School

These days - now that I put fb in the bin again, seem to have a little bit of extra time on my hands.  Which brings me to what have I been doing then?  Well, I discovered a new little series to watch.  We don't keep regular tv at my house at all, but we've relaxed that rule to allow Netflix at times.

If you want a SAFE viewing:  then this would include this series.  You will not be subjected to any foul language, inappropriate nudity, or any of the usual perversion found in western civilisation.  In fact, you will probably be so surprised by the lack of it, that you will never want to watch anything that comes out of America again.  You will come with me to Korea.  Subtitles are available for those of us that don't speak Korean.

ps.  don't send me emails saying how short sighted I am.  I fully realise that they have been on speed light travel to the same debauchery as America, but they managed to keep it out of this particular series - which made it an immensely enjoyable viewing.

* * * * * * *

They have a very different type of viewing.

My latest amazing little find has been:

{ Moorim School: Saga of the Brave }

I found it on Netflix.

Now, while it's like watching a really modest young love romance the basic story line will keep  you to the end.

Here is a trailer for it:

You should definitely read about here it here: wikipediaMoorim_School:_Saga_of_the_Brave

and another more interesting trailer here:

There is a little down side:  you'll be exposed to modesty, hard work ethic, and of course martial arts.  And I really, really, really loved that the students had to cook, clean, and look after themselves.  ha ha ha, oh my dream come true.  Can't wait for my students to take on that vision.  These students are basically university level, do I really have to wait that long?

But if you don't mind a little of that, you should be extremely happy to binge your way through.

Keep the tissues available.  You'll need them at some point.

Best Interview Fun and Hwarang Sneak Peaks

Today I found an interview with the main boy cast members, with plenty of show and tell from the series Hwarang.

It explains a LOT of bits and pieces from the story.

* * * * * * *

And just a curious little note:

At 16.58 introduction to the dance scene.

At 17.53 we discover that Minho choreographed the dance, with a little help from Tae, I think?

Then at 18.30 we see Park HyungSik, Min-ho, and Kim Taehyung show us the dance moves.

I mention this because what is most interesting is that these 3 all come from boy bands.  HyungSik from ZE:A { pronounced GEA as there is no Z sound in Korean }.  Min-ho from Shinee, and Kim Taehyung as V from BTS.

Hwarang - The Poet Warrior

If you are currently looking to view a drama from South Korea anytime soon, perhaps you will allow me to suggest:

{ Hwarang - The Poet Warrior }

This mini series is based
"around an elite group of young men called "Hwarang" who discover their passions, love, and friendship in the turmoil of the Silla kingdom (57 BC - 935 AD )."

There are some particularly odd moments in there, but I just took them with a grain of salt and moved right along.  Overall it was an awesome story.  Full of romantic young love, ambition, and friendships.  And yes, there is also a sad scene that requires tissues!

If you watch it on Netflix you will have English subtitles.

There are two predominate questions in this series:

Who will get the girl?
and
Who is the King?

I went and found you some sneak peeks for show and tell.

Let's start with an:

Official Trailer.... that shows some of the elegant costumes displayed throughout the series:

some more snippets - yes, that's Choi Min-ho on the front piece there, he plays the part of one of the Hwarangs { but he is from the boy band Shinee }:

and a fight scene { amongst the boys } - don't be put off by the initial start to the fight - that's mostly the full extent of innuendo for that genre.  They just happened to be there due to fighting and drinking the night before.

In this clip we see Kim Taehyung { Hwarang: Suk Han-sung } telling us that he is a man.......  if you recognise him, it's because he is V from BTS! { another boy band }

Both the main male actors also sing a track for the series.

Park HyungSik with:

and Park Seojun with:

Last, but not least, a post interview with the top 3 main actors: Park Seo-joon, Go Ara, and Park Hyung-sik.

{ FYI: Koreans write their last names first. }

Wiki has a full write up:

You tube is FULL of snippets and spin offs.  In addition, you can also find all the sound tracks there as well.  In fact, as I type this ending to my blog post I am listening to 'Even if I die, it's You' by V { Kim Taehyung and Jin from BTS  but I digress... }

Let me know how you go.

Another Outline AND a Paragraph

Today we did another outline walk through.....

and then she used her outline to write her own paragraph.

In hindsight I should have given her specialised lined writing paper  { 3rds } - which would of helped her with her neatness and spacing, but at any length, still pretty happy with her first outline to paragraph outcome.

I should also be more diligent to have her sit when she is happy, and not ticked off, but that is a note for me.....  ha ha ha.

 The more she practices, the more natural and more detailed her writing will become.

Charlotte's First Official Outline

Charlotte { 6y11m } did her very first official and formal outline this morning:

First, she read the passage aloud, then she answered the comprehension questions.

Then we went back and looked for the key words with which to build her paragraph outline.

I. Main Idea
a. detail
b. detail
c. detail
etc..

So, instead of just getting her to narrate to me a main idea sentence based on a paragraph, now, we are looking very closely to key words in many sentences to build a paragraph.

At some point we'll also start the re-writing of the paragraph based on her own outline.

When You Actually Take a Photo of Some of Their Lego Creations

I don't normally take a lot of photos of their Lego creations, but today I thought, why not?  Let's do it.

B is for Bee Alphabet Craft

Today Noah did another alphabet craft for the letter Bb.

And now we are off to snuggle up on the lounge for a "story".  Apparently, since he said earlier that, "He loves stories."

All the Little Bits and Pieces to Make a Salad

I think that the best salads are the ones that are mostly by and large comprised of many little pieces for taste.

Last night we made a pretty regular salad at our house:

It has green leaves / lettuce leaves, cabbage, and beetroot underneath where you can no longer see.

It also had:

capsicum
onion
cucumber
cilantro
carrot
cherry tomatoes
sweet gherkins { or pickles can't remember }

All I had to do then was add a dressing { ranch } and mix.

It didn't take long to cut up either, which is nice.  Maybe 20 mins??

But super good for us.

Let there be More Pauls, Let us be Pauls

Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

* * * * * * *

Let us bless others with this type of praying.

New Books in the Mail

I love getting book mail....

I had never heard of this series until I found myself at the authors website while reading a review on Macaulay's History of England.  I was impressed with his ability to write and communicate, which lead me to try these first two books out.

I hope I like them.

Noah and His Preschool

Moving along with the Preschool for Noah.

Noah is using these two books for his preschool work.

Today he started the short sound of { e } formally.

He's also started the Rod and Staff Math book 1.

I figure that if he just does a single row each day type of thing, that way he gets to do school, but it's not rushed or overwhelming.
