Anaconda Writing Packet

Here's another little pack that I've retired from the store.

Just click any picture to download.

{ Anaconda Reading and Writing }

I included a little written piece to start the unit off.  It has both an Australian and American versions in the file.  That way I can get the children's interest from the outset and start them off nice and gently.

Also included are task cards and writing pages, with plenty of worksheets and interactive notebook pages to complete the unit.

There are 9 different activities.  Plenty to keep one busy for about 2 weeks of writing.

Activities included:

Reading
Note taking
Opinion Writing
Narrative Writing
Informational Writing
Procedural Writing
Vocabulary
Fact & Opinion

Socrates Writing Packet

Yesterday was a beautiful day.
The sun spent most of the day shining it's warmth down on us, but that is not what made it beautiful.  The mail man came, and with him 8 brand new hard cover gorgeous books.  I know, I'm weird like that.

One of those books was about Socrates.
A beautiful large hard covered book.

So I sat down and read it to the girls last night.

Then I got to thinking, you know, as one does.
I thought it might be nice to have a little writing pack on Socrates.

So I added some informative, narrative, procedure, and opinion templates.  Essentially they are just tick lists to help build their paragraph.

I even included a Make a Scene.
My idea was that it gets used as a craft topper to any of the writing pieces.

I even thought that a plain page would work well for writing or copywork.

Then I also thought an interactive notebook page would work well for facts and opinions.
Finally and just for fun, I thought I'd add a little planner page for the narrative as well.

As an additional help I have also added a what, when, where, how flip flap book.  Just paste the left side down in your book and write your answers underneath the flaps on the right hand side.

It's always nice to empathize with people and letter writing is a good way to do that.  So I've included a page for a good heart to heart letter to Socrates too!

Yeah, so if you think that you might like Socrates to come visit feel free to click on any of the workbook pages above to download the pack for FREE.  :o)

OOP Odhams Child's First Encyclopedia

For the last few MONTHS every time I went into a particular second hand store I would see these two out of print volumes from the Odhams Childs First Encyclopedia and I really, really, really wanted to buy them, BUT there was NO way I was going to pay $8 a piece, especially since it was missing half the set.

And then BAM, one day I happen to be in there again, and it just so happened it was a day they were doing childrens books for 20c each.  Yep.  So I ended up with these two for 20 cents EACH.  Can you hear my total happy old out of print book girl voice?

They are filled with all sorts of things.  Stories, countries, various topics.

Completely illustrated with beautiful colored pictures throughout.

Famous people.......

General knowledge..........

They are gorgeous books.  Really very lovely.  It's too bad that they didn't have the entire set, but never mind, two are still very, very good from where I am sitting.  Fantastic really.

Also, from a recent visit to our local Sunday markets I picked up a biography on Marie Curie - hard cover, but no dust jacket for a mere $1.50.

For notes:  It's official, we are currently on school holidays now until the end of December start of January.  I've still got the girls doing some online maths, reading, and a little writing as we go.

Thanks for visiting.

Days the Week & Months of the Year

One of life's beauties is that when you put together a resource once you can come back and use it again and again.  I like handy stuff like that.

This week I've got one of those neat little packs that I recently retired from my store.

Just click on any picture to download the pack.

It has a couple of pages for the Days of the Week practice.  Have the child simply write the days in or use the cut and paste words also provided.   I like to print the days up on colored paper, they look nicer that way when they come to gluing them on.

There are also a couple of different pages for the Months of the Year, and they also come with the months for cut and pasting too.

Included are a couple of Anchor Charts as well.

Yeah, at any rate, I hope these are useful to someone, somewhere along the line.
