What's New at TpT

I've been a little busy adding the odd thing or two in the TpT department, but I haven't really done any show and tell on the new additions.  So today I just want to do a quick show and tell with some of them.

Now that the girls are getting older they need to write a little smaller, and a little bit more, so I did up a book 2.  It is considerably updated from book 1.  I added new clipart, and a new format.  This gave us more room to write more words.

At 88 pages of printables - it makes for quite a good sized file.
This time I doubled the file and made 2 worksheets for each multiple phonogram sound.  One for boys and one for girls.  This one shows the little girl detective.

And in the same style I did up a Word Family packet as well.  90 pages of printables.  That's 45 word families.  I am happy to ADD to this packet if you have a word family that you'd like me to add.

This one shows the little boy detective.

Years, and years, and years ago when I first started getting serious about making printables with the view to selling them I decided that I would have to tackle it head on, and the hard way.  I would have to make my own clipart.  Yep, I did this before I realised and came to companies that I could buy commercial use clipart from at a reasonable price.

So this week I took 26 cliparts and put them in an alphabetical listing in a word document and put a price tag on them.

I also dug up a book that I did in 2005 and popped that in my TpT store too.  ( I also dug up a number of other files that I thought would work well if I re-tweaked them with new formats/cliparts. )

And I did some serious work on my 5 x tables packet.

Thank you for letting me share what I've been doing.

I still have quite a list of things that I want to work on, but yeah, I just need to find the motivation, and the time.

Thanks for visiting.

School for 2013

Our Homeschool ( for the 2013 year ) will resume on the 31st December this year, oddly enough. I do have to clarify that we'll probably be the ONLY ones doing this, but hay, the beauty of homeschooling. Ok, maybe not THE only ones.  My friend Jeanne will also be ready to start school about then too. We'll have had our 8 weeks off and be all fresh ready to go again.
All our public schools wont resume until February. Most homeschoolers in Australia wont resume until February either. But I like to run on my own timetable. It works better that way.
While I'm mentioning my own timetable I should also like to mention that we'll be doing a 6 week on, 2 weeks off too.
This year we did a 4 week on, 1 week off approach. I found that I didn't really feel rested or recuperated enough on the weeks off. So next year I want to give the family ( and myself ) ample time to really rest in between each set of weeks.
This coming year I'll have:
A kindergartener ( Miss Hannah )
Grade 1 ( Miss Phebe )
Grade 3 ( Miss Chloe )
Grade 10 ( Caleb )
and possibly a senoir ( Daniel )

Websters Dictionary

For a long time now we have admired Noah Websters Dictionary.  We've even used ONLINE versions as well.

But now we will be able to use a paper version in our home.  This little - or should I say big - baby came in the mail this week.

And for an example:

Before 1828 everybody KNEW that a unicorn was actually a rhinoceros.  And now you know too~!!

Word Families

Do you remember the GLUE?  Yes, the home made, super quick and easy, and save you heaps of money glue?   I've had this batch for at least 10 days now and it's still GOOD~!!  A little salt and a lot of refridgeration can do amazing things.

Things I'm in love with:

1.  My laminator.
2.  My guillotine.
3.  My color printer.

I have been having so much fun this week printing out new resources and getting them sorted out ready for use.

Recently I had Hannah begin work from 'Teach Your Child To Read in a 100 Lessons'.  We are taking a little break from it at the moment - mostly because she's SUPPOSED to be on holidays, and that I lent the book out to a friend.  :o)

This gave us the opportunity to shift our focus and try out something different.

A photocopy master:

We have to remember that she is only 3y6m old though.  I sit WITH her whenever she does anything to do with writing.  I actually sit with her for nearly EVERYTHING that she does.

She's still getting the hang of it all.

But for a 3 year old I think she's doing pretty good.

From this I can see that she still needs a bit of practice with some letters.

So Excited~!!

I'm so excited~!!  So much so, I couldn't wait to do a formal show and tell.

Look what I learnt to do today:

Yep, put HEAPS of pages on a single page.

This way I'll be able to show what's in the packets in one picture.  How cool is that?

Oh and I updated the file AGAIN.  It keeps growing, and growing, and growing.  It's up to 57 pages now.

Clipart Art and a Friends Giveaway

Today I just wanted to share with you where I get my clipart from.

In the good old days, like last year and before, I used to either make my own clipart or visit Arthurs website for his free NON-commercial clipart.

These days I've started buying clipart from:

and

I highly recommend both these commercial clipart sites.

I've got quite a few sets from each company now and I can't wait to get more.  I love both their styles.  They are also both very good value for money too.

And while I've got you here, I just want to share with you that one of my friends is having a giveaway~!!

I'm donating my Thanksgiving Pack for the winner.

Jump over and check it out.

See you there~!!

High Tea

High Tea went awesome~!!

We had a house full of girls with their mummy's and it all went awesome.

But first we had to set it all up.  Table cloths, chinese lanterns, balloons, and streamers.

I was a bit worried that we weren't going to have enough chairs or tea cups.  I'd had a LOT of RSVP's.  We even had a trip to Melbourne to secure some extra tea cups a couple of weeks ago.

Soon it was time to get dressed in our new dresses.

Here's my plan for the day:

2pm - Meet and Greet

3pm - High Tea

4pm - Craft ( make a card )

I got the tea sets out and ready.  I had made scones in the morning while we were doing all the housework.  Oh by the way we also had a house inspection this morning.  Perfect~!!   We got two important things done on the same day.  My house was clean, and not just tidy clean.  It was clean, clean.  Super clean.

I love the print on these cups.  So lovely and perfect for cups of tea.  No-one broke one either.  Nope, not even a single cup was lost.  Which is good.  It means that we can use them again.

All the girls sit down ready for Tea.  Well, all except one.  We had 15 girls.  We had to find another chair and pop it on the end here.

Having Tea.

While the girls were finishing off their tea and deserts the mummies got to have a cup of tea ourselves.  We had to use the ordinary blue mugs though.

Then afterwards they all made a card.

Such a lovely afternoon.  The weather was great, warm and sunny.

A couple of the other mums helped out with the dishes as I kept busy being hostess.  A couple of the other mums helped me out with the serving and card making.  I really appreciated their help. It made the whole afternoon be VERY successful.

We'll have to do Tea again.  :o)
