Making Glue

Sometimes it's cheaper to just make your own things.  Even glue.  Yep.

To make glue I get out a little baby jar and put 2 teaspoon scoops of cornflour in it.  Then I add about 1 cm of cold water and mix.  When all the powder is thoroughly mixed in I add boiling water to fill the jar up.  And stir like crazy.

That's when I get the most awesome smoothest glue - just like store bought - for a fraction of the price.

I am considering experimenting with it to see if I can give it the long life / nice smell that also comes with a store bought glue.  Wondering what salt would do to it?  Or vanilla essence?

Thanks for visiting.

Memory Verses

Even with all the ecitement and work on my 2 x multiplication packet this morning I did NOT forget that today was Saturday and that I wanted to post a "christian" printable for you all.  :o)

This week I have the next three sets of junior memory verse cards.  :o)

Just click the cards to get each set.  They're all separate.

Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Keep thy tongue from evil.

Lo, I am with you always.

Thanks for visiting.

Bee Theme Multiplication

I have been tossing and turning these last couple of days because as it turned out my multiplication packet looked a bit like someone elses - and I was thinking, it mght be too much like theirs.   I don't really know what they put in their packet but from what I could see it was quite similar.  I don't really want it to look just like a "copy" of style so I started thinking how many ways can you really do this sort of thing?    How can I make it "just my own style"?

So late last night and early this morning I got thinking.   I get my book making inspiration late a night and early mornings.  The times when I can mostly escape the children.

And here is the NEW theme and NEW format for the 2 x multiplication tables.  The book ballooned out to 34 pages.  30 of them being for printables.   Oh, and it's now in a landscape format too.

Oh - and I am totally up for requests for different themes.  If this one doesn't suit, just let me know what you'd like and I'll put it on my list of to do's.  :o)

The multiplication cards.

The sequencing cards.

The answer cards ( division and fractions ).

Black and White versions of ALL the cards.

Mini cards for multiplication, division, and fractions.

And I also added some worksheets in there too~!!

And as always, I like to celebrate.  So the first 2 people that leave me a comment I'll send a copy to.  How's that?

But don't go just yet.  I have a FREEBIE for you just for visiting.

Thanks for visiting. :o)

Friday Hannah Update

Wow, are you in for a treat today.  Lots of show and tell.

Only 1 more week of formal sit down school and we, my friends will be on our gigantic school holidays.

Now having said that, I do have to confess that I totally imagine us still doing some "schooly" things during those 8 glorious weeks.  I tell you this so that you know I'll still be blogging and doing show and tell.  :o)   ( In particular I'll be doing a whole stack of posts about the curriculum we'll be using next year. )  Back to the holiday part:  English, Maths, and History will be taking a serious break.  I imagine crafts will still be on the table, and nature study may get a chance to shine.  :o)

This week little Miss Hannah jumped another level.  We began this book:

There is something really wonderful hearing a child "sound" out their words - all by themselves - and getting it right.

She not only sounded out these words but could also sound out and read, "see me eat.  see me read".  Pretty impressive.

We also added some new flash cards to our pocket chart, and revised last weeks words.

And we tried this activity again, keeping last weeks words and adding this weeks words.

This week we added ANOTHER 6 phonograms as well.

We also pulled out a new resource that I got FREE on TpT.  Pumpkin playdough mats for counting.  We didn't use playdough though since I already had some laminated pumpkins that I made from my sizzix.  It's not free at the moment but hay, what's 50cents?  Just click Hannah in the photo to check out where I got them from.

Another new activity we tried this week was Read and Cover.  I just made up this little grid with her words and punched out a few scallop circles.

As she reads each word she covers it up.  Simple and quick but effective for revision and practice.

And if you don't mind a HEAP of mess you can always try crafts like this:

Hannah also did some more practice with writing.  These particular pages are a personal spin off from my usual book on TpT.  So they are a little different where the letters in the boxes are.

And I also bought a really cool little book for some maths practice.    Basically the child matches up the numbers with the math fact and it turns into a picture. To go and check them out on my friends blog just click the photo.

Well, I think I'll stop here because well, I think this is probably enough show and tell for Hannah this week and I haven't even got to Chloe, Phebe, or Charlotte.

And this week I'm joining up with:

and

I hope you will join us.

Thanks for visiting.

Friday Chloe Phebe Charlotte Update

I seriously need to take more photos of what Chloe is doing during the week.  The most I got was a few shots of her spelling,

and a book that she read.   This book is historical fiction.  I like that she can have fun reading and still learn something along the way.  There are several other books in this series.

Phebe scored a bit better.  Here she is doing her peg counting with some pumpkins.

Phebe has also started her LAST workbook for Learn To Read.
Charlotte was snapped while playing out the back next to the orange tree.

And a few days before that out on the patio area crawling around.

Thanks for visiting.
