Drawing Hair

I've been super busy these last couple of weeks with Uni and life but I managed to get a little Art peek in yesterday with this:

I don't want to paint her in case I ruin her.

I enjoyed doing her hair that way.  It was a good lesson.

My First Urban Sketch

Today I decided to try my very first urban sketch.  It is based on Peter Steeler's YouTube video walk through that he did online.

I'm very pleased with the results, especially since it is my first one.

First, I did the sketch with a 2B pencil.

Then I black lined it with a uniball black pen.

Then I used my water colours to colour it in.

Have you tried any urban sketching??  Let me know.

Craft Time on Holidays

One of the ways to keep the children busy during holiday time is to let them do crafts.  Freestyle.  Just give them stuff and let them make their own things.

Today they are happy to craft punch and add glitter and what not's to their creations.

Art Saturday

Finally got to the end of the week and had some 'me' time.

I started out with a bit of a 5 mins sketch.

Then I started thinking about what I wanted on the page to fill it out, and add those.

Then I started painting.  Painting is always the scary part because anything can go wrong at that point since it's always an experiment.

Then as she was drying I started black lining her and adding embellishments.

And finally I was happy with her at this point, so I called it good and was finished.

Art Monday With a Beatrix Potter Rabbit

This week we attempted to emulate Beatrix Potter to some degree with a Rabbit from one of her books.

The girls started off with a sketch.

A Little Mermaid

Today I relaxed and did some Art.

When you view an altered children's book tutorial on youtube and suddenly remember that you have a book in the bin { ok, there were several in the kitchen bin this morning } and you quickly run out to the kitchen and scab on through - thank goodness it was in the recycles and not the mess one, anyway, yes, scab on through and pick out an old children's book: a berensteins bears book and decide, yep, let's make that into an art album. So then you hunt down the jar of gesso and a brayer and do your thing....

Next thing you know after that, you've got a picture on the page:

And some paint too:

And then she's all done:

Glitter and all......

Another Hour for Me Art Time

I am having a current difficulty.  How shall we remedy my problem?  As is apparent, what I'm using is not working, obviously.... the face paint is entirely too streaky.... what do you use for your faces?  Let me know in the comments below.

Thank you.

Art Friday

Today was the first day of our break where I actually took a real genuine break.  I decided to bust out the art supplies and have some down time.

This week I pretty much just let the girls free style an Art page.

Chloe did hers on a duck.

Hannah did hers on a Macaw { but I have never heard that they were in Tasmania }.

Phebe did hers on a duck too.

Charlotte declined to do Art today.
