Multiple Phonogram Spelling Workbook - oa

 I've added another little pack to a series that I'm writing:

Multiple Phonogram Spelling Workbook - oa

Just click the cover to go to the pack.

I actually made it for Noah to practice his { oa } phonogram.

He still has a few worksheets to do to complete the pack.

Here's one of the pages completed.
I highly recommend writing the focus phonogram out in a different color.

Thanks so much for dropping by my dear friends.

Let me know how your phonogram studies are going these days.

More Memories of Charlotte

I need to document more memories for Charlotte of her school work, so this is where I'm putting them.  :)

She has now started her last Unit for Grade 2 Math......

Plenty of carrying and borrowing....

And because the above Math curriculum is American and we are in Australia, I just swapped out the currency in the book for an Australian currency activity center instead.

Doing more work with SOTW II....

Her spelling notebook....

A compare and contrast for her Horse lapbook.

A life cycle story as well....

The story glued in underneath in the correct order.

And the princess herself coloring in...  :)

A lot changes while their little... a lot....

Kindergarten and Grade 1 Spelling

One of the things that I love to do in Kindergarten and Grade 1 is to spend some time using Spelling as a way to teach and concrete in those multiple phonograms.

While it is entirely true that you could get through a complete year of spelling and multiple phonograms WITHOUT a curriculum, it just makes things a little more intentional to have the worksheets if you can get them.

At any rate, I've been slowly re-shaping and doing up some new worksheets to accommodate this years spelling.

I've prettied up the files with instructions etc.. and uploaded the first set on TpT.

Contents:
A color anchor chart of the sound and word list
A black and white easy print anchor chart and word list
An easy print lined version for copywork, new word list, or dictation
2 x write the word worksheets
2 x circle the letter set to make the word, write the word
2 x choose the correct word, copy the sentences
Interactive notebook for the focus sound
Cut and paste words available
Read, Trace, and Write words with the focus sound - print
Read, Trace, and Write words with the focus sound - cursive

I do use another resource, also found in my store for the Monday portion, but I have added enough work to this file so that it can be used as a complete stand alone.

So if you are interested, please feel to jump over and check it out, just click the cover.

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That.

This week we worked out how to do our maps.

1.  Trace
2. Paint
3. Blackline

This is a combo effort with Miss 8 and myself.
It's based on SOTW 4 - Lesson 2a

Phebe and Hannah are up to lesson 10 in their Wordly Wise text.

Don't forget that you can pick up these little supplements for FREE here on the blog under the spelling tab.

Charlotte was reading this to me this morning.
I love how she is progressing.

We started a new Art project - and I gave all the girls a new little art book each in which to put it.
We'll be doing flowers.

Another new project is this little flip book that we're going to put memory verses in.

Yeah, so just wanted to do a little catch up.  :)

Thanks so much for visiting.

A Week of Spelling Grade 1

This week Charlotte worked on the { ir } sound for spelling.

Monday
Sort the words with the { ir } sound.

It's a flip book, lift it up and the words are underneath.

On the next page Charlotte wrote a page of words ( and underlined them ) with the { ir } sound in them.

Added to the top of the page as a flip page - on Friday we will see how many of these words she can read by herself and the ones that she gets correct she can color in.

Tuesday
Write the words that match the picture.

Wednesday
Make the words.

Thursday
Choose a word that will make the sentence complete.
Followed by copywork.

Friday
Choose a word that will make the sentence complete.
Go back and see how many words she can read by herself and color them in.

I'm pretty happy with the competency with the { ir } sound now.

Wonder what sound we shall do next week?

Wordly Wise Book 5

Whoo Hoo!!

I've been working to make some extra helps for Wordly Wise Book 5 for the girls next year.

I have the first 12 supplementary lessons done already.
That is a smidge past the first half of the book.

That way both Phebe and Hannah will have some extra printables to help pad out the lessons.

Do the written definitions on Monday and Tuesday.

It works out to be a single page of work each day.

Then write your own sentences on Wednesday and Thursday.

Finally, do the cut and paste definitions on Friday.

I actually have TWO different worksheets to make sure we cover ALL of the list words.

Additionally, I have a picture version of the first definition worksheet - and the cut and paste definitions separate - which you can print out on colored paper for prettiness, to glue on.

The following week do the work from the workbook itself.

Yeah, so there you have it.  I'll be looking to finishing up the remaining 8 lessons asap.

Thanks for visiting chookies.

A Catch Up Week

We are officially on school break at the moment, but yes, I am still handing out the odd bit of schooly work for the girls.

I found a great little 'Australian Golden Project Book' - unused I might add - for the girls to read and copy some insects out of.   Copy, not trace.  :o)

I have also started putting some Art Appreciation lessons aside for next year.   I very specifically went in search of prints, coloring pages to match, and a couple of good books for reading.

Since we aren't doing much schooling these days I've also had some free time to do some laminating.

A nice little Time center { that I picked up on TpT } for half and quarter hours.

The cards below are actually designed for a word wall, but I thought they'd be super handy as flash cards.  They work to compliment the morphology spelling lists { that I picked up on TpT } that the girls are currently going through.

Each spelling unit actually comes in 3 different levels, which I think is awesome.  That makes it super easy for me to divvy up the worksheets as I know Chloe gets level 3, Phebe gets level 2, and Hannah gets level 1.  The higher the level the more words the child has to work with.

Something fun and new that the girls have become addicted to is the game 'Cluedo.'

I hope you've enjoyed a quick peek into our week.

Are you on holidays yet?

Grade 2 Lesson 5 Vocabulary

Even though we are currently taking a break from the formal spelling/vocabulary work I ended up making this little worksheet today.  I think this type of worksheet would work well in with all the others.

{ Week 3 }

This week we went shopping for our yearly consumables.

Here's what $170 looks like:

Yeah, not much really, but enough to get us through the year, I should think.

* * * * *

Something that I've noticed is that Hannah likes to do a lot of doodling in her own free time.  This week I even managed to capture some of them:

* * * * *

One of the activities for this week was:

If you'd like a free copy of this activity, just click on either picture to download from googledocs.

* * * * *
Hannah continues to work in her Grade 2 English workbook.

Here's page 88, but she's now up to page 91.

* * * * *

Chloe is the only one who actually started the Grade 3 book at the beginning of the year.  Phebe isn't too far behind, she just needs to finish Book 2 first.

* * * * *

We continued on with our spelling extras.

Here's Chloe's.  I can't show you Hannah's because she didn't do as well with it.  Never mind, she'll get a second go at it again next week.

One of the things that I've been getting the girlies to do with their spelling words is to write out their definitions, since one of the main things we want to do with them is to help build up some of their vocabulary.  This one is Hannah's.

Phebe whizzed through this little book.  I got the entire set from Dover.  I highly recommend them.

* * * * *

Chloe finished reading her Bible story book so I decided to dig this back out of the cupboard and let her have a go at it.  It has 3 weeks worth of work in it.  After that I'm not sure if she'll go back to some sort of Bible reading or on to the next book, we'll see how she fares first.

* * * * *

Finally, this week I managed to take some little video's of the girls.  This video was spontaneous, so we didn't have any time to pretty ourselves up.  I hope you enjoy the video.  Don't forget to let me know what you think.  I'm thinking of doing some videos on a regular basis.  :o)

This week I'll be joining up with:

 I hope you'll join us.
