New Memory Verses

This week Charlotte added two more verses to her lovely little keepsake collection.

Letter O.... memory verse.

Letter P..... memory verse.

What her collection is looking like these days.

Super pretty, don't you think?

Then we just keep them stored in her little card box.

Charlotte Chit Chat

Just thought we'd highlight some of the things that Charlotte did this month.

We continue to add memory verse flash cards.

Art by herself.
She did use a directed drawing, but yes, she walked herself through it though.

Months of the Year.

She has started carrying in Math.  Currently in Unit 3 of Rod and Staff Grade 2.

Turning abstract numbers into concrete examples.

Charlotte will finish the formal school year with these books half finished.  They're started already, but yes, won't be finished in 3 days time though.  I imagine that she will still continue throughout her vacation time but at personal leisure.  We'll see how it all goes and what she resumes with in January.  There is a small chance that she'll spend her time really doing no school at all.  But, if by some incentive chance, she might still do the occasional lesson too.  We'll see.  I'm really happy with her reading progress this year.  She's almost entirely done with LTR.

A jigsaw too.

and then.......... on her last official school day this year she did this:

We are finishing early this year because we are MOVING to the other side of Australia.

Anyway, just wanted to keep something to look back on.

Memory Verses for September Week 1

I went back and re-established Charlotte's { 6 }
Memory Card File Box.

I used the A-Z verses from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
I just printed them up - it's a one page download, t
hen cut the verses apart and glued them individually onto cards.  This made 26 cards.
Then it was time to stamp some pretties onto the sides of the cards.

The very next day we were all good to start.
She copied the verse and started the coloring.
Soon we also did the cut and paste.  Essentially, it's the verse cut apart and put back in sequence.  She really LOVED this activity.

Alternatively....
Print the plain one and print on a colored piece of paper.

If you'd like a FREE copy of this weeks verse just click the picture below.

I'll be making a FULL set to match the verses in the A-Z memory verse list.

I'll pop them HERE.

Don't forget to visit on occasion.

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That.

This week we worked out how to do our maps.

1.  Trace
2. Paint
3. Blackline

This is a combo effort with Miss 8 and myself.
It's based on SOTW 4 - Lesson 2a

Phebe and Hannah are up to lesson 10 in their Wordly Wise text.

Don't forget that you can pick up these little supplements for FREE here on the blog under the spelling tab.

Charlotte was reading this to me this morning.
I love how she is progressing.

We started a new Art project - and I gave all the girls a new little art book each in which to put it.
We'll be doing flowers.

Another new project is this little flip book that we're going to put memory verses in.

Yeah, so just wanted to do a little catch up.  :)

Thanks so much for visiting.

Memory Verse Making

Here's a great way to help get your children learning scripture as memory verses.

This project will be for every Monday, under their Bible tab.

First, locate some memory verses.

I thought we'd use the ones from confessionsofahomeschooler.
I love how she had all the ABC memory verses on one page.

After that we'll be using the free ones from Simply Charlotte Mason.

Each week we'll make a new card for the next letter of the alphabet.

By the end of it they'll have lovely keepsakes and some awesome scripture in their hearts and minds.

And if you can't write or do copywork just yet, that's ok too.
We'll just cut and paste it onto your card.

They'll get stored in their own personal file boxes.
Yes, each girl has their own.  :o)

ps.  I already have a really nice stash of beautifully decorated verses from previous makings, but yes, just thought we'd take the girls back there to build their own.

Thanks for visiting chookies.  :o)

Sunday Update

This week we had family come for a visit.  My mum, my sister, and her two daughters.  Michelle also came for a couple of days.  The little boys were here too.  This brought the house count up to 15.   Don't you just love meal time with that many people?  The house actually ran better and cleaner while they were here than when not.  More grown up hands on board.  :o)

They brought the girls new dresses.  The dresses pretty much go to the ground.  All the girls LOVE them.

Chloe in her new dress.

Phebe, Hope, Hannah.

Charlotte in a basket.

We still have one more week of break before we resume full time school.  Chloe will still be doing some maths though, and MUSIC.  Yep, we are doing music.   We are all doing music - a piano keyboard.  It's so new and novel that they are constantly lining up in a round robin to do music lessons.  We've had the keyboard for a while, but none of us have been able to make it work in the sense of learning how to play it. But now with some new software - wow~!!   There's a lot of us using the keyboard.  Daniel, Caleb, Chloe, Phebe, Hannah, and myself.   Hubby reckons he's going to do some as well.  The only one not doing music - piano keyboard is Charlotte, but I know she wants to.  Her little fingers keep trying to join in.

* * * * * * *

I've started struggling with memorizing Psalm 71.  This week I totally fell off the wagon.  We had a lot of different things happening at my house, so the routine was changed.

I went ahead and made a new card yesterday though, so I will just try to pick up here and keep going.

Here's this weeks new memory verse.
