Butterfly Jigsaws

Do you remember those Bird jigsaws that I showed you a couple of weeks ago?  Yes, guess what?  I found a boxed set of Butterflies by the same company at K-Mart.

A bargain buy for only $5.

They actually show you what the butterflies look like assembled on the back of the pack.

So the hubby and I sat down and did a few while we had a chat about life.

I always like jigsaws.

They are a nice way to get calm and relaxed.

Week 11

This week we did a LOT on life cycles.  We finished up butterflies, did some work on frogs, and a little work on chicks too.

 We also read this lovely book with our little laminated pictures { from kidzclub.com }

until he got so big.....

He went off to make a cocoon called a chrysalis.....

with which the caterpillar used "metamorphosis" to turn into a butterfly.

I printed out little books for the girls on frogs and we spent about an hour in the morning working on those.

I think overall that the girls are starting to get tired of coloring in.  They've done so much of it. 

Phebe who has just very recently turned 6 read this and a few other pages to me this morning.  

Music continues to be fun for them though. :o)

Butterflies

We made a good start to our butterfly life cycle work today.  Chloe - Grade 3, read this little Science Vocabulary Reader.

Then she did an ABC Order with vocabulary words.

Then she did a cut and paste of a 4 stage metamorphosis worksheet.

Phebe - Grade 1 just did the color in page version.

Butterfly Life Cycle

I had a little skip ahead in Chloe's science workbook yesterday and saw that we'll be looking at life cycles super soon, so I quickly did up a few little worksheets to help with the lessons.

I added an ABC Order / vocabulary worksheet.

A couple of note pages.

A butterfly life cycle 4 stage metamorphis chart.   I also included a cut and paste version of it as well.

Then I added a label the butterfly page too.

Last but not least, a couple of mini essay pages - which I may tweak once we've tried them out.

I've just popped it in my TpT shop if anyone is interested.

 I'm working on grade 1 - 3 level.

I'll be adding a frog one as well in the next few days.
