Lessons 15 and 16.......... 

where I introduce the usage of the abacus AND touch points together in the same lesson for each question.  As we go further along we'll see the use of the touch points increase his speed for computation greatly remarkably.  So, this is a definite must.  Additionally, the abacus is for concrete and visual representation of the question.

Today I had to pull out the teachers manuals for English and History, for the answers, you know.  It makes marking so much quicker.

Here's what I bought for Noah for when school resumes in January..... Yep, only 4 weeks left to go before we begin our 2019 school year.....  

I picked this tin up at Office Works for a smidge under $40.

Where does the time go?

Week 5

Last week we took a few days off and went camping.  It was our first time as a family in a tent.  It went great.  We can't wait to do another one.

As you all know I also use our get-aways to peruse strange second hand shops for books.  Yes, I found some more bargains on this trip too.  In particular I bought this:

A total bargain at $4.  All his paintings in a neat and organised book.

Noah is growing up.  I finally have a little toddler boy!

In the Maths department we started using these grid booklets for the girls to work out their questions.  I chose the ones that are roughly 1cm.  It's helping to keep all those numbers in the right columns.

Charlotte has been doing bits and pieces.  Each day I have it so she does something in the reading department, some flash cards, something from the maths department, and a random worksheet.   Occasionally I'll be adding a craft as well.

Miss 4 practiced her 3's a lot this week and she also started some morning work that I picked up from TpT.

Miss 8 gave me the BEST essay that she's ever written.  It's amazing how much improvement can be made on a little guidance.

Week 4

This week I added in some sugar { as opposed to salt or sand } for Charlotte to write her letters in as we did her flash cards.   How it works is that I flash a letter card, then she tells me the sound that it makes and writes it in the sugar.

The girls started their Bible Survey with the story of Zachariah { John the Baptist dad }.

Throughout the year they will cover 60 highlighted stories from the New Testament, thus forming a nice little survey book, and a beautiful keepsake.

Week 3

Yep, can you believe it, we are already down and done with week 3 for the 2016 year.  We started the last week of December.
