Pretty Princess Hair Day

Yesterday we took the children up to Mandurah for a day out.  I plaited Charlotte's hair and she left it in there the entire day, and even slept in it after we had come home.  So, this morning when she got up and we brushed her hair this is what we got:

It was wispy beautiful and wavy.

So her older sister decided to plait some side ties and put them together for her today.

Hannah came out and said, "Wow, her hair is long.  When did that happen?"

Nobody has been noticing that her hair has been silently growing.

Charlotte Chit Chat

Just thought we'd highlight some of the things that Charlotte did this month.

We continue to add memory verse flash cards.

Art by herself.
She did use a directed drawing, but yes, she walked herself through it though.

Months of the Year.

She has started carrying in Math.  Currently in Unit 3 of Rod and Staff Grade 2.

Turning abstract numbers into concrete examples.

Charlotte will finish the formal school year with these books half finished.  They're started already, but yes, won't be finished in 3 days time though.  I imagine that she will still continue throughout her vacation time but at personal leisure.  We'll see how it all goes and what she resumes with in January.  There is a small chance that she'll spend her time really doing no school at all.  But, if by some incentive chance, she might still do the occasional lesson too.  We'll see.  I'm really happy with her reading progress this year.  She's almost entirely done with LTR.

A jigsaw too.

and then.......... on her last official school day this year she did this:

We are finishing early this year because we are MOVING to the other side of Australia.

Anyway, just wanted to keep something to look back on.

Week 22

The colder months are now upon us.  It's even started snowing up on the hills.

What better time to enjoy savoury cheese scones on those cold, wintry wet afternoons.

Noah loves to have me take photos.

Charlotte loves to do her maths on her own.  It makes her feel accomplished.

Here she is with her Touch Numerals.

The girls are growing as well.

{ Week 16 }

Some good news, and some bad news.

The bad news:  I had started my blog post for today earlier in the week.  I even popped in some really nice photos and started chit chatting about them but then, during the week my computer went cactus.  In the absence of my computer I decided to continue working on my post on hubbies computer and that's when the really bad news happened.  I accidentally bumped something on the keyboard and wiped my post clean.  So now I'm starting again.  Oh, and I couldn't just pop the photos back in either because well, they were wiped with my computer too.

The good news:  My computer is back up and running.  I am also now relocated to my desk in the front room.  And the best news this week:  I managed to get a new post done.

Ummmm, I gave the assignment and hoped for the best.

Don't ask me what was in her mind, I have no idea, but it ended up with a lot of words on the page.

Chloe and Charlotte found some time for painting.

The girls got to make a scene for Cinco De Mayo day - even though my children have NO idea that it is just a party day to celebrate some Mexican war against the French, on the 5th of May no less, hence it's given name.

Chloe turned double digits!

Noah graduated to size 0 clothing.

I've been really busy working on some cvc workbooks and what nots too.  So far I've managed to get { a } and { e } done.  They're quite meaty - both up to 42 pages now.  I'm quite pleased with the format and content.  Especially since I managed to get a good selection of worksheets and printables in them.

And for fun, since I like sharing, just click to download.  :o)

It comes out of this book:

I'll see you tomorrow with some more printables.  :o)

A Weekend of Camping

This past weekend the girls tried camping.
They were safe in the backyard, to be sure.

Dad put up their new tent.

Then they played in it all day long.

Each girl got a brand new pink owl sleeping bag.
{ All the girly things come in multiples of 4 at our house. }

{ Week 4 }

This week we did Cleopatra & Mark Antony.

Now while they actually did end up with some writing, you know what I think?  Outlining lends itself to producing much better work.  So while I like the interactive notebook thing, yeah, outlining does a superior job of teaching writing.  It just produces more, much more, I think.  So on that, I might go back to some mind mapping and transfer that over to an outline and see what we can get out of that.  Just some thoughts there.

The girls did a *little* more Greek.

Hats abounded.

More free time free styled drawings.

An activity for one of the girls.

I also got the girls to check out this months calendar and fill in the numbers for it.

Another activity for a girl one day.

Another add on activity throughout the week.

This week I get to show you Hannah's work.  She totally aced this activity this week!  Yay!!  But the proof will be in the pink pudding test booklet though. :o)

Now while Hannah will write out her spelling words I am often finding a bunch of scribbles with them.  I find her drawings ALL OVER the place.

Hopefully by the time she's 9 her work will look more along this line.

Our gorgeous little Noah.

Phebe saying hello. :o)

This week I'll be joining up with:

 I hope you'll join us.
