Elephant Life Cycle Story and Comprehension

Today I want to highlight my Elephant Life Cycle Story and Comprehension pack.

It's comes from my Elephant lapbook, but I decided to make it a separate offering as time could be a huge factor when choosing lessons for your Elephant theme.

Inside this mini pack is a 3 page text passage on the life cycle of the Elephant followed by comprehension questions and a wordsearch.
Just click either the cover or the worksheets to go to my store.

It's only $3.00.

Thanks so much for visiting.

We Started our Spider Unit

We made a good start to our Spider Unit for the month of January.
Charlotte worked on her cover page for the lapbook:

I read her the fact passage and then she filled in the cloze for it.

Then she ordered the Days of the Week cards and did the cut and paste for them as well.

This is the first book that we'll be reading.  It makes for a great introduction.

We also did our Spider poem this week as well.  Well, I read it and she colored it.  The amazing thing is that when I was reading it to Charlotte, the other girls got super quiet and listened in.  In fact, two of the girls actually came up close to me so that they could listen even more carefully.

Don't forget, you can pick up this poem as a printable for FREE - HERE

We also worked on 4 of the vocabulary words too.

Yes, a great start to our Spider unit.  :)

Interactive Sea Turtle Lapbook

We are still enjoying making our lapbooks.  With every one I do they seem to improve.  I now have a Life Cycle Story with this one and comprehension questions too.  I'm entirely running out of places to put all these pieces.

As always, a cover.

A compare and contrast venn diagram.
Don't forget the option to cut and paste is also provided.

How it looks when you first open it up.  Both passages are placed on the left hand insert.  What you can't tell from the photo is that the top passage is actually 3 pages.

The comprehension layered over the cloze.
There's 2 pages for this.

The cloze that goes under the comprehension.
This is the underside of the passages.

The second insert with the pockets and the compare and contrast on the right hand flap.

Up close on the pockets.  I've actually got 6 to choose from, but yes, you only do 4 of them.  Just choose which ones.

When we turn the pocket page over we discover the life cycle in the middle and the label activity to the right with the remaining vocabulary words underneath.

The labeling activity comes with cut and paste words - but they were taken off when I put it in the lapbook.

When you lift up the life cycle you find the writing paper for the copy work or freestyle writing.

Underneath - the second page.
There is another option for more junior writers in the file.

And of course, Art opportunities.  Draw or trace or cut and glue.

Paint, or color, or oil pastel underneath.

See, the labels for the labeling activity.  :)

The cut and paste available for the life cycle.

Vocabulary on the front left hand flap.

The copywork available.

I just made a little pocket to house them in under the compare and contrast.

Real life cards for one of the pockets.

Some more sequence cards.

One of the pocket flap books.
Something to keep track of where you do your reading for the topic.

A paragraph walk through.  By the time the child has used this flap book they've written a paragraph.

A tri-fold can, have, are...... which slips into one of the pockets.

And on the backside we have a circular life cycle illustration.

This is a very, VERY full lapbook.

There is even a wordsearch in there too - goodness knows where we will put that, but yes, it's in there anyway, nonetheless.

{ 12 Activities }

Yes, so I am super happy about how this one came out as well.  The girls and I are currently working through it already.  It is designed to take 2 weeks, but it might take us a little longer, depending on how many extra little crafts I add and what we read.

I do have a walk through on how to make the lapbook base HERE.

And a walk through on how to put this lapbook together HERE.

It's currently on SALE for a bargain $4 HERE.

Thanks for visiting.

Interactive Penguin Lapbook

Today I wanted to share my latest lapbook project, Penguins.

The cover.

When you first open it up.
4 Vocabulary words to the left, a reading passage on the first insert, and a compare and contrast on the right hand side flap.

The vocabulary is done with little matchbooks.  Just cut and paste the definitions in, or copy them in.

I've also included a cut and paste list of labels for the compare and contrast.

The passage.

Turn the passage over and the cloze is underneath.  There is also a secondary cloze available for older children.

The mini books and pockets on the top of the right hand insert.

My opinion flip book - which will walk your student through on how to formulate an opinion paragraph.
A Penguin log book to keep track of all the books you look at or read about Penguins.
A tri-fold can, have, are for All About Penguins.
Lastly, a set of 8 life cycle sequence cards.

Life cycle of the Penguin.  Cut and paste under the correct picture, or copy.

Label and color the Penguin.

I also added the remaining 2 vocabulary words underneath the Label the Penguin.

Lift up the middle insert and this is where I put the writing portion.  It is situated in the middle back part.

How it looks opened up.

Here is show the second writing page underneath the first one.

This is the Art activity.  Cut and paste your penguins on { just print an extra set of sequence cards } and color.

Copy work for the writing.  If your child can write without help, by all means, but if they just need copywork - I have provided 8 details to help them along.

The minibooks out of the pockets.

The can, have, are tri-fold.

The sequencing cards.

The two flip books....
