I have been BUSY,  very B.U.S.Y!

This afternoon Hannah was also busy, trying out my busy.  I thought that it came out pretty good, considering her attempt was done unassisted.  So, would you like to see our "busy"?

I went and upgraded the book { and the others in the series } to include worksheet versions as well, since I think that would be very useful!  So now the pack is 40 pages and currently still set at $1.00.  I can't wait for the girls to do a whole heap.

Just have the child write down "key" words.

Each "key" word becomes a sentence or two.

I also added blanks and a secondary writing page for those little writers who discover that writing isn't so hard after all, and that they've been super star book authors all along.

Write the Room

 

Here's another something NEW that we got to try out this week for the first time.  I keep picking up all these cool ideas and worksheets and stuff.  :o)  I love Teacher BLOGS and PINTEREST.

 

Write the Room - Farm themed.

 

I printed off my pages and cut up the little cards.  Then I put them into 5 little groups and set up them up around the room.  Then I called the two girlies and explained HOW to write the room.  Then I left them have a go.

 

 

Chloe loved the activity.  Next time I will ask her to aim for neatness and accuracy as well though.

Phebe liked the idea of the activity, but needed a little help.  I am hoping that next time she will be able to do the activity without any help.  :o)

 

 

If you wanted to use this activity in a center more than once I also highly recommend coloring and laminating the cards before you use them.

Fabulous Farm

So far these holidays I have been very fortunate to get a few new books done.

I keep thinking that I'm going to have a few days off, but I always get inspiration and crazy motivation and voila, new books and stuff keep appearing.  I'm not complaining.  I'm having fun.  :o)

 

I already know the name of the next book that I'm going to do:  Zippity Zoo ( can you guess what that theme is? )

We are currently trialing the book with 1 x Kindergarten, 1 x Grade 1, 1 x Grade 2.  So there will be some additions and updates to come.  :o)

 

I want to make sure these activities WORK in real life.  :o)

Today I'm going to share some work that Hannah ( 3y5m ) did this week.

 

Earlier in the week I was over visiting the Teeny Tiny Teacher . 

She's super funny, and whenever I need a teacher pick me up, I go there, well she's one of the blogs I go to.  I actually go to a number of blogs.  

You might get a little distracted and start reading while you are there. Then you might start laughing. Then you might read some more, then you might laugh some more. And then the whole day will be gone. But you will feel heaps better for it.

This week Kristin has a freebie for her Writing Assessment that she is sharing with everyone.  As soon as I saw the little puppy, and little Miss saw it over my shoulder, I knew we had to get a copy.

Have you ever wondered what it's like in my house in the mornings?

It's a little chaotic you know.

For at least the first hour or so.


So, into the kitchen, pull out the bowls.  2 weet-bix for you, that's one done.  A bowl of cornflakes for you, there's another.  Oh, and you want weet-bix too?   Ok, great.  Little boy also wants weet-bix.  Time for other adults to get up and join the party.  Oh - you want a second bowl?  Sure, can you wait 2 mins for me to stop feeding the baby?  Sure dad, I'll take a cup of tea.  You are so sweet to me, making me eggs on toast.  Have you had breakfast?  Are the older boys up yet?

Oh stop.  This post is NOT about breakfasts at my house?  It's not?  Ok.....

It's actually about some Farm theme worksheets that we experimented with.

These first two were done by Hannah.  They were simple match the words to the picture exercises by cutting and pasting.

This next one was done by Phebe.  This particular worksheet was a cut and paste of the pictures to the main page.  This meant that she had to match the pictures to their names first.  Once glued onto the correct boxes she then had to copy the name of the farm animals.  

I dunno what it is with coloring - or rather the lack of it sometimes.  Some days are good color in days.  Some days not so much.  Maybe they are OVER schooled.  She did enjoy the cutting and pasting though. :o)
