Friday for Hannah

This weeks show and tell comes from Hannah 3y6m.

This was our 3rd week with working with multiple phonograms.  She has a nice little collection going now.

We got out some little red letters and made the sounds.  She quite liked this activity.

And of course I made a really, really, really big pocket chart this week too.  So we used it to put some flash cards in it.  These are Hannah's first 4 words.  I figured since she was doing so well with those multiple phonograms that I would start her on Rod and Staff 1 Reading.  More on this program in the future.  :o)

I also pulled out some little blue letters for her to make words.

Hannah really loved doing this as well.

And of course we continued on with our sorting words as well.  :o)

Some more crafts with our multiple phonograms.

I'm compiling all these multiple phonograms craft pages into a file.  I'll be looking to share these soon, so keep an eye out for them.

And for revision and fun we did a quick little worksheet for the letter / a /.

And don't forget to check out yesterdays post with our Columbus show and tell to see our Columbus stick puppets, Columbus hats, and Columbus ships.

Today I am linking up with:

More Columbus Day

Well, I think we have now finished up our Columbus theme.

Here are a few things we did.

Stick puppets.  This Columbus asking Queen Isabella for some money to fund his little adventure.

We made Columbus hats.   I freestyled the pattern myself.

We also made telescopes with our handy dandy toilet rolls.  The girls painted them black.

I think Phebes little telescope came out the best.   It was more sturdy with joining two same sized rolls together.

Freestyling ships in a bottle.  Adding Columbus was an afterthought, otherwise I would have had the girls put the sails a bit more to the left.

I found some more books with Columbus in them too.

This was an odd book.  It's basically a picture book where you FIND things in them.

And I also found him in:

Famous Explorers

Great Lives Great Deeds

Don't forget to check out my other Columbus post for additional books that we found him in.

We finished off with a little writing.

Thanks for visitng.

A Super Big Pocket Chart

Last night I got some inspiration and decided that I really, really, really needed a whopping big pocket chart.

So I pulled out my white board and turned it over to the back, and voila, I had a blank canvas.

I found some nice patterned paper that wouldn't mess with my eyes when I used the pocket chart and got that stuck on the board.

An up close of the patterned paper.   Unfortunately I did this project at night - so my camera didn't pick up the niceness of the pattern/color.   But it does look super nice in real life.

Once the background paper was down I got out my transparency film and cut them down.

Then I used my handy dandy double sided tape ( a super power that I have ) and got my pockets up and running.  I *LOVE* double sided tape~!!  And it is practically invisable too.

There is a LOT of space in this new chart for me to use.  A LOT more.  Much more than I have with the other versions that I've made.

Here's what I had in it this morning for school.

These are sight words for Hannah ( 3y6m ) but more on that on Friday~!!

Thanks for visiting~!!

What We are Reading

I just thought that I'd pop in quick and share what we are currently reading in the way of fun, made up novels.

Mandie and the Secret Tunnel

'When Mandie's father dies, his Cherokee friend provides comfort,

and a secret tunnel reveals Mandie's family's history.'

The girls are quite enjoying this book at the moment.

And now I'm linking up with Tammy from 123 Teach With Me for this months show and tell on what we are reading.

I hope you will join us.
