High Tea

 

As the end of our school year approaches I have been very busy preparing for our end of school year High Tea.

I even made a special trip down to Melbourne to get some EXTRA cups for our tea party.  We are having quite the do~!!

Table cloths.  Check.

Balloons.  Check.

Streamers.  Check.

Chinese lanterns.  Check.

Bits and pieces like serving plates.  Check.

Fancy new dresses.  Check.

Fancy new cardigans.  Check.
Ribbon for their hair.  Check.

Bulk biscuits.  Check.

Scones, jam, cream.  Not Check, but on my list.

 

TEA CUPS.  Check,

 

but we NEEDED more - since we have had more RSVP than I had cups sitting aside.

I LOVE shopping for things like this.

They come beautifully packaged.  As always.

Nothing quite like a formal sit down High Tea with a social make a card moment for fun.

Multiplication for 2

 

Multiplication

 

Sometimes one simply MUST re-invent the wheel - of sorts, because well, it's fun.

 

Here's a neat little multiplication packet to help learn those 2 x tables.

Included is:

1. A set of cards ( dog theme ) with the multiplication questions on them.

2. Then a page with the answers.

3. Division by 2. Teaching multiplication is all about patterns and should be taught with division facts as well.

4. Fractions by 2. Just for fun or your advanced students who need a little more.

5. Answer cards for Division and Fraction cards.

6. Count by 2 - Sequence cards

7. Color and Skip counting worksheet.

8. Speed drill worksheet.

9. Multiply by 2 mini cards

10. Divide by 2 mini cards

11. Half of 2 mini cards

12. ALL the cards again with NO color - so the children can color them themselves.

A total of 17 pages of printables + cover and credits.

Garden Update

 

Time for another Garden Update~!!

 

A lot has happend in the last 4 weeks.  Our plants have settled in and started growing.

 

We had to move them over a couple of metres so that they could get more sun.

Which are going to need a frame for them to climb up on very, very soon.

This stuff grows super quick.  Now that they are well and truly starting to grow we'll be able to start picking at them.

And the best part is that we don't have to do anything to them.  Not even water them.

 

So the only thing that I have been doing is occasionally going out to have a LOOK at them.

Weather Chart

 

 

Like many of you I have seen that awesome weather chart on Pinterest, and thanks to Nicole from Rowdy in Room 300, I now have a handy dandy weather chart~!!

 

 

 

 

I printed it all out, laminated the pieces, and stuck them on an A3 piece of cardstock that I had.  Then I used 3 little wooden pegs for the "today it is" pieces.

 

Too easy.  Can't wait to have the children use this week in school.

Little Readers

 

While perusing the internet via teaching blogs this past couple of weeks I've noticed that a few people have been offering little readers.  This reminded me of a project that I started a few years ago with HFW in little readers myself.  I used to share them through the 'Printable Preschool'/'Printable Primary School'.  I no longer keep those groups though.  This morning I went and dug them up and thought I'd start offering them here too.

Mine have green covers.

 

 

And it just so happens that it is perfect for Miss Hannah 3y6m to start reading from.  I gave her a copy of this book to read this morning.  Nothing like IMMEDIATE success with reading to encourage and give confidence with reading.

Oh, and they can color the pages in as well.  :o)

Memory Verses

 

 

Yep, it's the weekend again.  Amazing how quick the weeks just go.

 

Today I have 3 new memory verse pages for you.

 

Glory to God in the highest.

 

 

 

Honor your father and mother.

 

 

 

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.

 

 

It's been a super duper busy week here for us, so looking forward to a much needed weekend.

Fables in the Classroom

 

This week Chloe worked on one of the Fables from my book titled, 'Reading Fables 1'.

 

This is the 7th fable in the book.  The Ant and the Grasshopper. 

 

As we progressed through the unit we often referred back to the fable.  The red markings on the margin is for when we were writing up our own narration.  Beginning, Middle, and Ending.  The colored parts were for when we were looking for nouns, verbs, and adjectives.

 

 

 

A cloze and dictionary exercise.

 

 

 

 

Something fun to take the pressure off the school side but still focusing on vocabulary and spelling.

 

 

A quick comprehension page to see if she was getting the basic ideas.

 



 

 

A different type of comprehension page for the who, what, why, when, where, how.

 



 

 

 

Some quick little work on nouns, verbs, adjectives.  Remember we colored in some words in the fable on this first photo?

Now, there are some more pages in the unit but we didn't do those.  I only wanted the unit to take less than a week to do, so I had to omit a couple of things.

 

Now here is where my story gets a bit more exciting.   Over the holidays ( 2 more weeks to go people~!! ) I am going to write ANOTHER couple of Fable workbooks.  I can't wait, as I have all these ideas and I want to add a few more things in there like graphic organisers.  I'm going to upgrade the new versions to a higher level too.  That means more cloze work, more dictionary work, and different answering lines.   I want to bring the syllabification work from the back of the book and incorporate that into each fable as well.  The scary thing is that I am also contemplating adding diagramming in there as well.  How cool would that be?

 

I also have a couple of other books I want to do up as well.  All I need is some time~!!
