Flavoured Rice

Time to get you drooling and super ready for a delicious and healthy meal.

Think easy and quick.  Think healthy.  Think delicious too.

Rice with a chicken noodle soup mix, a tiny amount of curry flavour, and a tiny amount of home made taco seasoning.

While the rice was cooking I cut up a stalk of celery, two tomatoes, an avocado, and a red capsicum.  When the rice was done I simply stirred them into the rice, and voila, we were ready to eat.  No need to cook these added ingredients.  It's best to eat them RAW.  Although to be honest, when adding them to the hot rice it does warm them up a little.

Some Card Making

I managed to squish in a card afternoon.  Tricky with the little girls who were pretty desperate to stamp as well, but I held my ground and said, no.  I must say, the youngest two were very persistent.  The baby had his moment to add as well.

Today I decided to take a little short cut with some of the card making.

I used some colored clipart for each of the cards.

It was super nice to have a sit down play, but yeah,
I might need a few more years before I can do it stress free.

A Weekend of Camping

This past weekend the girls tried camping.
They were safe in the backyard, to be sure.

Dad put up their new tent.

Then they played in it all day long.

Each girl got a brand new pink owl sleeping bag.
{ All the girly things come in multiples of 4 at our house. }

Cleaning the Pantry

{ Week 2 }

We no longer have a big huge pantry now that we've moved house.  I've just got some cupboard space. This has meant that the food items have been spread out into several different cupboards.

So, this week I tackled two of those "food" cupboards.

Before:

After:

I discovered some more room once it was all tidied.  :o)

I also found a ton of room in this one as well after it was cleaned.

This week I'll be joining up with:

I hope you will join us.

Preschool { Week 4 }

Wow, now this is one of those weeks in History for Charlotte.

I've got a number of draws filled with random children's books that I just keep around for the girls for fun.  She found this particular book to be very interesting and came running to show me something extremely excited.

What was so important?  Yep, you see that little boy sitting on the toilet?  Yep!  He had caught her eye.  It inspired her so much that she had to go and try it out for herself.

And you know what?  She really did!

So her princess music making potty became a foot stool and the potty ring took it's place in the palace loo instead.

In the academic department this week:

Cut & Paste alphabet sorting for the letters /a/ and /m/.

Charlotte tried a new activity.

Ummm, well, yeah.....  more mess at this point I think.

Thanks for visiting.

{ Week 4 }

This week we did Cleopatra & Mark Antony.

Now while they actually did end up with some writing, you know what I think?  Outlining lends itself to producing much better work.  So while I like the interactive notebook thing, yeah, outlining does a superior job of teaching writing.  It just produces more, much more, I think.  So on that, I might go back to some mind mapping and transfer that over to an outline and see what we can get out of that.  Just some thoughts there.

The girls did a *little* more Greek.

Hats abounded.

More free time free styled drawings.

An activity for one of the girls.

I also got the girls to check out this months calendar and fill in the numbers for it.

Another activity for a girl one day.

Another add on activity throughout the week.

This week I get to show you Hannah's work.  She totally aced this activity this week!  Yay!!  But the proof will be in the pink pudding test booklet though. :o)

Now while Hannah will write out her spelling words I am often finding a bunch of scribbles with them.  I find her drawings ALL OVER the place.

Hopefully by the time she's 9 her work will look more along this line.

Our gorgeous little Noah.

Phebe saying hello. :o)

Lunch Yesterday

Here's what we had for yummy lunch { our main meal } yesterday:

Underneath the cheese and sour cream is a baked potato cut into long quarters.  There's absolutely no meat in this meal, which is quite relieving.  I've been trying to cut our meat consumption down.  We couldn't find the mild tomato salsa so the girls and I had to have a taco sauce instead.  Dad and the boys got the nice chunky stuff on theirs.

The salad on the side { totally delicious I might add } before we put a dressing on it:

Purple cabbage, carrot, shallots, peas, corn, capsicum.

By 4 pm instead of needing a sleep I was actually able to do some extra housework.  ha ha ha.  Goes to show you how nutrition is super important in keeping you going each day.
